Penultimate

Tonight we had a full run of the show with orchestra, costumes, hair, make-up, props and lighting.  There are some absolutely beautiful moments.  Many such moments in fact.  It’s colorful, tuneful, fantastical, magical and kaleidoscopic in its ever-changing range of sights and sounds.

Of course we’re still finishing work on some elements and tinkering around with others — there is one more rehearsal after all.  But all in all we are in excellent shape.  The individual performances are growing sharper and more fully realized every day.  And the added visual elements, along with beautiful orchestral support, have truly elevated the entire production to a new level.

The slightly grumbly news is that there are still some effects to work out, some lights to focus, and several cues to be written.  Members of the technical staff and I will be working through these issues in the afternoon and hope to get everything ironed out before our final dress rehearsal.
