Two Long Months and Two Sweaty Nights

It’s been over two months since my last post.

In the meantime, we’ve staged the entire production and have, of late, been drilling the blocking and choreography.  We’ve mailed out postcards, generated publicity photos (posted below for your pleasure), written press releases, performed in one of two promotional events, and done terrific work on the sets and costumes.  In general, the stuff which needs to get done has been getting done — and well.

I realize I’m pretty intensely long-story-shorting you.  I could descend into lengthy narratives, whining, crowing, and/or excuse-making.  But this is a blog about the immediacy of creating live theater.  I know I’ve stalled in my blogging duties but, rather than spinning my wheels here, I’d prefer to move on…..

Last night we worked with the Fairies.  It was a long hard night of focused and productive work…. in a hot room.  We worked on Fairy composure, Fairy attitude, and Fairy faces.  And we drilled choreography; emphasizing both precision and organized “chaos,” each in it’s proper place and time.  Good, solid work all around.

Tonight we worked with the Peers. Another long hard night of focused and productive work…. in another hot room.  We worked on Peer composure, Peer attitude, and Peer faces.  And we drilled choreography; emphasizing precision and organization (no chaos here).  Good, solid, sweaty work all around.

We open in 16 days.  We’ve done excellent work and we still have some excellent work (and, no doubt, sweat) ahead of us.  And we will be ready.
